Providing a safe haven to the homeless while allowing them dignity, restoring hope, and offering the assurance that someone cares.

Made possible entirely by support from the Rome Community, the Davies Shelters
have been reaching out to men and women in need since 2003.
In that time, over 1,300 guests have been sheltered--almost like taking in a new guest
every day, seven days a week, for four years!

With the capacity to house up to 15 men and 13 women, guests share our home until they are able to secure one of their own. While here, they enjoy a clean, peaceful home environment, complete with a warm bed, shower and laundry facilities, and two meals a day. And since our meals are provided by big-hearted volunteers who know their way around a kitchen, our guests generally put on at least a pound or two during their stay!

Guests stay with us for up to sixty days, during which time they receive assistance finding employment and housing, and also have access to financial, substance abuse, and individual/family counseling. Volunteers often come out to spend an evening with our guests, joining them for dinner, leading Bible studies, or even playing a game of horseshoes! With cooperation from Coosa Valley Technical College, our guests are now eligible to attend Customer Service Certification or Truck Driving Certification courses, and, thanks to those zealous volunteers, in-shelter Career Planning and Life Skills classes are in the works. What more, you ask?! Very soon you may drop by to find our guests hard at play with a volunteer-led power-walking or yoga class, or discover among us a hidden Picasso hard at work on an art project, the result of some very well-disguised Art Therapy!

It is our mission to provide each guest with the tools to become happier,
more confident individuals in all ways--physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When they're
ready to leave us, our goal is to send them off as self-sufficient, successful, and positively-contributing members of our community--a community who believes in them, encourages them,
and makes this precious second chance at life possible for them all.
